The mission of the Fort Dodge Community Schools (FDCS) Foundation is to help students and educators go above and beyond what district funding allows by providing grants for technology, professional development and other educational items.
Generous donations allowed the FDCS Foundation to grant $36,000 to classrooms during the 2017-18 school year for things like robots, metal working machinery, PE heart rate monitors and more.
“The SMART program has made a huge impact with the students on their core muscle control. This allows them to sit better and be more in control of their bodies. The program has also had an impact on their fine motor control, which has helped greatly with handwriting skills. We have also seen an improvement in the students eye-tracking, which allows them to read smoother and more consistently."
Kim Vaughn, Butler 3rd Grade Teacher
Gifts to the FDCS Foundation helped Kim Vaughn receive professional development training then implement the SMART Program in her classroom. Math and reading scores went up in her room and now all Butler Elementary School students participate in SMART Training daily. See photos and read more, here.
