Getting to Know the New Superintendent

Dr. Jesse Ulrich, pronounced all-rick, will become the next Fort Dodge Community Schools District Superintendent July 1st, 2018. Here’s the scoop on the new sup:

High School: West Bend-Mallard

College: ICCC, Buena Vista, & Iowa State University

Favorite food: Steak

Favorite team: (other than the Fort Dodge Dodgers): Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Hawkeye Football

Favorite book: “Tuesdays With Morrie” by Mitch Albom

Favorite movie: Forrest Gump

Dr. Ulrich and his wife, Amy, have four kids, Breckyn, age 8; Bo, age 1; Bentley, age 4; and Baylor, age 6.


Hidden talent: My family has an annual BBQ cookoff. I’ve won the last two years and have even won a community chili cookoff.

If you weren’t in education you would be: Unemployed. I can’t imagine doing anything else!

What are you most excited about in Fort Dodge: I’m excited to come back to Fort Dodge and make a difference in the region I grew up in. There are so many exciting things happening in the community and in the schools that I can’t wait to be a part of the team to continue to live our mantra of “Together We Rise!”
