FDSH alumni Molly Nelson to be the first FDCS Foundation Director
Molly Nelson has been named the Fort Dodge Community Schools (FDCS) Foundation Director. The FDCS Foundation was formed in 1985 to provide supplemental support to FDCS students and faculty through generous donations, fundraisers and business partnerships.
The group has previously been run by a board of volunteers.
“The FDCS Foundation is so excited to take the important step of hiring a full-time director,” said FDCS Foundation Board President Andrea DeJong. “Having a director will allow us to increase our efforts in supporting the Fort Dodge Community Schools. Molly (Nelson) has extensive marketing and communication experience, an important understanding of networking and increasing visibility and most importantly, a passion for the Fort Dodge Community Schools.”
Nelson was born in Fort Dodge and is a FDSH graduate. She has previously been living in Waukee, IA.
“I am inspired and impressed by all of the great things happening in Fort Dodge and with the Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation. My husband (Kole Petersen) and I had amazing Dodger experiences. We are so excited to be back,” said Nelson.
“I am looking forward to talking to others in the community about all of the great things happening in the Fort Dodge Community Schools and about how they can help the next generation of Dodgers have the same amazing experience I had.”
DeJong said Nelson will be doing marketing, fundraising, legacy planning and partnership development for the FDCS Foundation. She will also be working with FDCS Foundation Board members to plan the annual Go Big Go Dodgers Fundraiser. The 2018 Fundraiser is Friday, April 6 at Fort Frenzy.
